【Betong】 is a small town located in Yala Province, southern Thailand. Known as the "Misty Mountain Town," it was once a stronghold of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM).
The ethnic Chinese in Betong are predominantly Teochew and Guangxi people. It is said that the town’s Chinese name, "勿洞" (Be-Tong), originally comes from the Teochew dialect term "马中."
